Educate. Prevent. Protect.

Consolidated Milton /Glen Ellyn Mosquito Abatement District

At Milton Township, we are committed to keeping the public informed and ensuring that our residents have a clear understanding of all the services we offer.

To reinforce our commitment to transparency and education, we took the initiative to learn more about our mosquito control contractor, Clarke. We spent an informative afternoon exploring the measures implemented to prevent the spread of the West Nile virus.

During our visit we learned that since the advent of West Nile Virus (WNV) in our area in 2004, much of Clarke's research focuses on larvicidal treatment of catch basins and other water-based breeding sources, such as retention and detention ponds, as well as reported standing water.

In addition to larvicidal treatments, Clarke also implements spraying as part of their treatment. This involves both district-wide and targeted applications of adulticides to reduce mosquito annoyance levels and address predicted spikes in WNV activity. They utilize the latest environmentally friendly adulticide chemicals and time our treatments based on mosquito reproduction predictions to maximize effectiveness.

Our abatement contractor, Clarke Environmental, is responsible for these treatments.

You may receive notifications from Clarke, report mosquito annoyance levels, or report standing water through Clarke's new hotline portal at https://www.clarkeportal.com/hotline. For direct inquiries, please contact Clarke Mosquito at (630) 844-2000.

Last year, Township Supervisor Higgins-Beard sought a deeper understanding of our mosquito contractor, Clarke's, operations. She spent an informative afternoon learning about the measures we take to prevent the spread of West Nile.

We are confident in the preventive measures Clarke is using, and encourage you to learn more about Clarke's process on their website. Mosquito Photos - Copy
